Personal Student Kits for Music Distance Learning

Personal Student Kits for Music Distance Learning

Bear Paw Creek’s personal student kits offer creative movement props and music instruments sets for distance learning or in person sessions.  During this difficult time of Covid19, we have been grateful to collaborate with music therapists, teachers, and dance teachers to bundle quality movement props and instruments together to meet their needs and continue to get them into the children's hands that will benefit from continual music and movement instruction.

We will also share some of the sanitation tips we have gathered and hope you will take the time to share your suggestions in the comments.  As we leave 2020 behind and enter the New Year of 2021, we are also excited to pull together a big giveaway!

Music And Movement KIts

What do you think about when you hear children connected with music and movement?  Many don’t realize that just like math, science, reading or writing, music and movement play an important role in a child’s development and has many benefits.

Children naturally enjoy music and will begin reacting to music at an early age. As they get older, their love of music will bring one of the most obvious benefits of children participating in music and movement:  the release of energy. When children take part in music and movement activities, they are allowed to have fun, be creative and dance around and burn off some energy.

Other benefits of music and movement include:

  • Developing small motor skills
  • Developing large motor skills
  • Learning to express emotions
  • Improving balance and coordination

Research shows that exposure to music can also improve children’s ability to learn. Music and movement instruction has been shown to improve children’s memory, cognitive development, learning skills and expressive ability.  It offers a fun, active, engaging multi-sensory experience for children that integrates physical, cognitive, social and emotional learning.

We have been thankful to work with some wonderful people to bring you kits to use with their music and/or lesson plans. Check out these music distance learning options that include different small hand instruments and movement props.

Cleaning and Sanitization Suggestions

For almost 21 years, our stretchy bands have been our best selling movement tool.  Since this is made out of soft material and intended to be used in group activities, it has been on the "naughty list" since Covid19 has hit.  It's sad to think off all those stretchy bands sitting in storage, while our society has come to a halt on community and bonding activities.  I know I am missing the social skills, team work, and creativity that comes from group music and movement.

It has also been interesting to watch the change of distance learning and how people have quickly adapted.  There are always positives and negatives to witness!  We've been thankful to be a small part of helping get small instruments and movement props into the hands of kids to be able to continue their education and therapy at home.  Here is our suggestions for sanitizing that we are including in our kit.  Do you have any other suggestions you have found?  I'd love to hear about them in the comment section.

  • Clorox Wipes
  • Disinfecting Spray
  • Seventh Generation Disinfecting Cleaners
  • Hydrogen Peroxide 3%, wiped down and dried
  • Bleach solution

Soft materials can be machine washed in a laundry bag. We recommend air drying in the sun, but they can be dried on low heat as well. Do you know the sanitizing effects of the sun?
