Library Music and Movement Story Time
My first memory of going to the Hortonville, WI public library was for their story time. (Thanks, Mom) I can remember walking through the doors, into the downstairs area and participating in their story time. I have a clear memory of sitting in a circle, listening to books, singing songs, and the crafts. I also remember several Christmas crafts I took home.
Magical Libraries
There is a certain feeling and smell about libraries that seems to be replicated across the country. Recently, I shipped a stretchy band to Little Egg Harbor Branch Library in New Jersey. Just the name of that library made me want to visit it.
I have taken my kids to local library times and continue to do circle time with my little ones at home, as well. I am thankful for the books, music and creativity that was built into my childhood. It continues to impact me, my children, and all that use our movement props. I came across this excellent article: “Using Songs and Music Education Techniques in Your Toddler/Preschool Storytime” and hope you can benefit from it as well.
In her article she covers the power of using music and how to implement it into story time or circle time. It's a gem of a read!
