In 2023, the World Federation of Music Therapy (WFMT) transitioned from a single day of recognition of music therapy, previously held on March 1st, to a week-long celebration. Now held annually, April 10-15 is World Music Therapy Week (WMTW). In a post on the WFMT website, they explained the goal of WMTW:
During World Music Therapy Week, music therapists and supporters are encouraged to engage in activities that increase awareness of and advocacy for music therapy. World Music Therapy Week also serves to highlight the global connectedness of music therapy, which can be especially important for developing countries.
